Ingredients

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup of warm water
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  • Add the vegetable oil to the mixture and mix until crumbly.
  • Slowly add warm water, a little at a time, until the dough comes together.
  • Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into small balls and roll each one out into a thin circle.
  • Cut each rolled-out dough into circles using a round cutter or the top of a glass.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
  • Carefully drop the dough circles into the hot oil, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or as a side dish.

Notes

To keep the saucers crispy, serve them right after frying or place them on a cooling rack instead of stacking them.
